Video Project
- What is old, and what is new in any work of art? Old is something that has been done before and is generally accepted, new is something tha hasn't been done before.
- How is art used in everyday life? In advertising, TV, movies, etc.
- How and why is art used as a vehicle for communication? In the news, it is easier for people to understand somethig with an image rather than just speaking.
- How does Material Culture influence artistic decisions? Lots of art is based off of what's popular or not.
- What problem-solving skills are employed in making works of art? Sometimes things don't go as planned and you have to adapt or expieriment a
- How can an artist create works of art through combining, expanding, and sequencing? Multiple artist can create a piece beyond any of their singular skills by collaborating.
- How are the characteristics and expressive features of art and design used to create art? They make things more aesthetically pleasing and make different emotions, like happy, sad, scary, etc.
- Why do Artists Produce Preliminary Plans? (sketches, brainstorms, storyboards, etc?) Because getting everythig you need ahead of time saves time in the long run, and as Roxy says, time is money in the art world.

Self Portrait
Reflection:
With my self portrait, I got a lot of inspiration from a picture I saw on Roxy's slideshow. It had a face divided into different squares, much like mine. There was also another that had a diffeent coloringfor each. So I combined both to make my self portrait. I also added an easel, paintbrush, and some paint splatters. I also added a picture of Demaryius Thomas, because he is is my favorite football player. All the different filters and colors on the picture shows how conflicted I am on things. This contrasts with my smiling face to create an interesting juxtoposition. The splatters are also evidence of this. The self portrait shows my different natures alongside things that are purely me.

Teacher Creature Project
Project Reflection
For the Teacher Creature Project, we had to take a teacher’s face and put it on a different body. We also had to add other objects that added to the overall theme, such as the habitat, or something that has to do with the teacher. I chose Matt Dooley for my project. I wanted to turn him into a Sasquatch, but I couldn’t find any good pictures that weren’t copyrighted. So instead, I turned him into a gorilla. At first, I completely forgot about the elliptical marquee tool, and I tried to put Matt’s face on the gorilla using the pen tool. But that looked really bad, so I eventually I remembered and used the marquee tool. Once I used it, my project started looking really good. But I still needed a lot more elements. Since Matt’s favorite animal is a penguin, I added two adult penguins with one dressed in Haverford College lacrosse gear, the college Matt went to, and the other in a tuxedo. I also had a baby penguin with Mickey Mouse ears. Once I refined the project a bit more, it was finished. My favorite part was the finished product. It was great to see it all finished and like some of the other Teacher Creatures made by the upperclassmen. It really made me feel like I was a part of Animas and it made me really proud. It surpassed what I thought I was capable of. I learned how to use the liquefy tool, the pen tool, and many others. It was a lot of fun and probably the most fun project I've done all year. |
