Introduction:
For this project we had to use the scientific method and further our research in waves. We had to choose a topic to do research and test on. We chose to do research and test Wifi and the effects of different materials on the wifi. We wanted to see if their was a material that would slow or even stopped the internet. We will be testing a control, wood, aluminum, plastic, and rubber.
Abstract:
In this project we tested the different materials, by using an app that was downloaded on a phone
Question
Is there a material that can slow or even stop the Wifi?
Hypothesis
The aluminum will slow down or stop the wifi next will be the rubber, wood, then plastic.
Methods & materials
For this project we took an app that was downloaded on to a phone and tested the wifi directly next to to router for the best results. The first step is to open up the app and place it next to the router. The next step it to press the start button and wait for it to collect the data. Next take that data and write it down. repeat these steps three more times, next you will take a new material and place it in front of the cell phone and follow the same steps as before. After testing collect all the data and put it into a graph.
-cell phone
-wifi router
-wood
-aluminum
-plastic
-rubber
-Speed test (app)
Results
After testing was done we found there was very little change in using the different materials. After doing more research we found one material that would work to stop the Wifi is a metal sheet. I was really surprised that the aluminum didn’t work then. After doing some more research we found that we would have to use multiple layers of aluminum to stop the wifi or slow it down.

Water Filter |
We were assigned to make a water filter out of easily obtainable materials for a certain location; in our case Australia. We used a fresnel lens to distill our water and make it potable.
